| Dude, it's pretty amazing that in my tiny town in Minnesota we're given the opportunity to see, meet, and learn from Mr. Saul Williams. Highlight of my term, I do believe.
I feel like I've never encountered someone so close to nirvana. I'm not trying to sound cheezy; I just feel like he understands so much, like he knows himself so well. He is wise and hilarious. A great person.
He's pretty much awesome.

| I don't particularly like birthdays, not because mine is on a bad day, I just don't like the excess attention. I'm not a spotlight kind of person. At the same time I guess it is nice sometimes to know people are thinking about you. Also I'm bad with the aging thing. My best friend in middle school wrote this in a letter once, after I had expressed concern with the fact that I was growing up despite myself:
"Maybe we can stay old enough so that we don't get lost, but young enough to see the world as it really is."
I like that. It's been a good motto for me.

| So Emily and I are road tripping to Austin for the National Slam. It should be pretty amazing. Assuming my ghetto vehicle makes it the whole way to Austin. This might be iffy. I really don't want to get stranded somewhere in Texas. I think that would be my own personal hell. Other than Austin, I don't think there is a single redeeming quality about Texas. But I'm really excited for the slam! | |

| I just found out that I will be spending ten weeks in London in the spring term of next year.
Huzzah!
I'm pretty sure I have no way of saying how incredibly stoked I am.

| Just got back from Shepherd's Way sheep farm where a group of us helped vaccinate sheep. The farm was a victim of arson last year and so they need all the help they can get. Half of the older sheep still have burn scars all over their faces and bodies; it's really sad. They said that the day after the fire when they were putting all the sheep back to pasture, usually they're really really loud, but that day they were completely silent. Not a bleat. It's the second time I've gone. It's fun to get off campus for a bit and help them out. The people who run it are really great people. If you ever see Shepherd's Way sheep cheese in a co-op store, get it. It's delicious and comes from wonderful folks who are really just trying to do their thing, and to it the right way. The lambs were pretty adorable. Not the brightest creatures around, but pretty cool. I'm so dirty now, though. I will go get clean. | |

| I'm home for spring break. It's amazing how much nicer home is after you've been gone awhile. At least if home is Albuquerque. It's a bit ugly and windy now, but when I got in it was so lovely and sunny, and the mountains were bright and blue. I almost wanted to just spend the afternoon laying out on my front yard or in the park or something. I'm off to Arizona on Monday. I miss Bella (my classical guitar) dearly, and playing my dads old rickety thing just isn't the same. I should be able to play Jules' nice guitar when I get there. That'll be a bit of improvement anyway. I also forgot some of my music, which is a big bummer, because I wanted to perfect it over spring break. Along with working on my writing portfolio (hah) and starting my application for admission into the Teacher Liscensure Program. Hurrah! I'm going to be a teacher!! If I make it in, which I really should. I hope. I don't think you can find someone more excited about teaching. Oh my goodness, Kurt Vonnegut's book, A Man Without a Country... SO GOOD. I was laughing SO hard on the plane. I'm not done yet, because I'm trying to save it for the plane ride to AZ, but it's hard to stay away. It's an extremely quick read. I'll have to get another Vonnegut for when I finish that one. Okay. Enough rambling. | |

| I got a free Shane L Koyczan CD with my Buddy Wakefield CD from PoetCD.com. I'm listening to it now. I like it. I'd never even heard of him before (though apparently he won nationals in 2000). He's really good. I'm so stoked I got this random CD and it turned out to be one of my favorites. Buddy Wakefield's CD is pretty wicked too. More musical than I was expecting, but way awesome. | |

| J'aime le bruit du champagne Qui pétille dans les verres
oh french phrase-a-day calander. You really give me phrases I would need to know if ever trapped in some random place with french-only speaking people. I actually do like the sound of champagne fizzling in the glasses, but I don't know how helpful it is for other people to know that about me.
I also like it when the bottoms of my pant legs get wet in the rain.
Why isn't that in my calendar?

| Best. Concert. Ever.
at the cave....
coming a close second after Keith Urban, but that's a whole different catergory.
LISTEN TO THE HOPEFULS!!!!!!!

| I guess I just don't get it. I mean, how can that many people think that they have a right to determine who can love whom? Where do they get off? What does it matter, as long as there is love? We need a whole fucking lot more love in the world, and they're outlawing it. And I just don't get their arguments either... bible shmible. I don't believe in god, but if he does exist I can't imagine that he would give people love, make people who loved certain people and found those other people to love, and call that love a sin. Perhaps this is why I'm an atheist. Or at least agnostic. Religion. Oy. | |
